Should I buy these for ??$80? (~??$60) #golfshoes。Elegant white golf shoe with fringe accent and lace-up style. Ideal for golf enthusiasts. FootJoy’s kiltie golf shoes are a classic style in golf footwear, and they trace their history back to the mid-20th century when traditional, dress-inspired golf shoes dominated the fairways. Kiltie style background: The “kiltie” refers to the decorative fringed leather flap placed over the laces. This design originally came from Scottish brogues and was adopted into golf shoes as both a protective feature (shielding laces from mud, dirt, and rain) and a style detail. FootJoy adoption: FootJoy, founded in 1857 as the Burt and Packard Shoe Company in Brockton, Massachusetts, became famous for premium golf shoes in the early 1900s. By the 1950s and 1960s, the company popularized kiltie styles as part of their Classics line, which were leather-soled, hand-crafted shoes worn by professionals. 1960s–1980s: The kiltie became a signature look for golf shoes during this era. Many PGA Tour professionals wore FootJoy kilties, which symbolized both tradition and prestige. They were typically made of fine calfskin or patent leather, often in two-tone combinations (like black/white or brown/white). The kiltie was removable, so golfers could wear the shoes with or without it. ? In short, the FootJoy kiltie golf shoe represents the intersection of heritage, craftsmanship, and classic golf fashion, most popular from the 1950s through the 1980s but still admired as a vintage style today.
